Extra Curricular Activities

Extracurricular activities are planned at the beginning of each session and are held throughout the year. These activities begin with Welcome Party for 1st year followed by Spring session activities like Annual Sports, Annual Funfair and Annual Debates. The college provides ample opportunity not only to make a busy brain cheerful, but also to encourage and polish other hidden extra curricular talents in its students.

Workshop on Medical Education

Third series of workshops is being conducted by the Department of Medical Education, SMDC in collaboration with UHS, Lahore.
  • A Workshop on 'Stress Management' facilitated by Prof Sa'ad Bashir Malik was held on 13th May 2017.
  • A workshop on 'MCQs Design' facilitated by Prof. Samir R. Qazi was conducted on 18th May 2017.

World Orthodontic Health Day in SMDC

On 15th May 2017, World Orthodontic Health Day was celebrated all over Pakistan in collaboration with the international orthodontic community. The Former Principal Sharif Dental College President of Pakistan Association of Orthodontists, Professor Colonel Dr Iffat Batool , took the initiative to celebrate this day in Pakistan and addressed the participants of this event at Sharif Medical and Dental College, Lahore, regarding the significance of this day. Various academic activities were organized which included a one-day Orthodontics Symposium followed by a quiz competition for students, house officers and orthodontic residents. These activities will surely add to the positive impact of World Orthodontic Health Day on the global dental platform. Pakistan looks forward to celebrate this day with more innovative ideas every year.

Inauguration of 'Sharif Center for Cleft Lip and Palate

On 19th April 2017, Sharif Medical and Dental College hosted a special event for the Inauguration of 'Sharif Center for Cleft Lip and Palate'. SCCLAP has been registered as a charitable non-profit non-government organization, aimed at treating individuals born with the deformity of cleft lip and palate.

Sharif Medical and Dental College is fully equipped with latest dental and surgical armamentarium, along with highly trained and skillful doctors and technicians for the management of cleft lip and palate. The concerned departments include Orthodontics, Plastic surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, Psychology, ENT, Pediatrics and Speech Therapy.

The Inauguration ceremony was well-attended by senior orthodontists and plastic surgeons from Lahore and other cities. Mrs Soraya Anwer, Founder President of SOS Village Pakistan since 1975, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. She acknowledged the effort of Sharif Medical and Dental College to establish this unique and impactful center. Guests of Honor significantly included Prof. Tasneem Raza, Prof. Ghulam Qadir Fayaz, Prof. Irfan ul Haq and Prof. Khalid Ahmad.

Ex Principal Dental Collage Prof. Col (Retd). Dr. Iffat Batool, welcomed the guests and gave a detailed introduction of this organization. Later on, the Chief Advisor to Chairman Sharif Trust, Dr. M.Adnan Khan presented shields to the chief guest and guests of honour. The Inauguration concluded on a very positive and impactful note as Mr. Abdur Razzaq, Director Finance and Accounts Sharif Medical City, expressed a firm resolve to serve cleft affectees unconditionally all over Pakistan.

MANAGEMENT OF HOT TOOTH

A lecture was arranged by the department of Operative Dentistry on 17th 0f April, 2017. Topic of lecture was 'MANAGEMENT OF HOT TOOTH'. Lecture was presented by Dr. Khalid M. Ahmed BDS, DDS, MSD (Endodontist). He emphasized on tips and tricks of managing a painful tooth while doing root canal treatment. All the young final year students and house officers really benefited from his lecture.
